SSI Enriched Air Nitrox

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty Program will teach you how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen.

Diving with enriched air can increase your no-decompression limits, increase your safety, and reduce the required length of your surface intervals when compared to air. You will earn the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification after completing this program.

This program is divided into two certification’s – Enriched Air Nitrox 32 and Enriched Air Nitrox 40. SSI encourages you to complete the entire program. The more information you have, the more prepared you will be for your underwater journey.

Enriched Air Nitrox 32:

As you will learn in this program, Enriched Air Nitrox provides many benefits for recreational divers, like increasing your safety margins by using EAN32 and the air settings on your computer. Everything you need to know to dive using up to 32% Nitrox is covered in the first 3 sections.

Enriched Air Nitrox 40:

If you’re interested in longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals, then Enriched Air Nitrox 40 is for you! Completing the entire program and earning your EAN40 certification provides you with even more knowledge and diving opportunities, and can act as your introduction to the Extended Range Diving program.

The physical act of diving with Nitrox is no different from diving with an air-lled cylinder, but safe Nitrox dive planning requires additional education and skills. This program teaches you the information you need to make educated decisions about diving with Nitrox, including calculating adjusted bottom times, maximum depths and correct surface intervals depending on the Nitrox mixture you use.

This program also has a required practical application session, where you will learn the proper techniques and procedures to safely analyze the oxygen content of your Nitrox cylinders, and the precautions required for diving with enriched air.
